Description

Title SKOS
Abstract SKOS is a model (now W3C recommendation) to represent in RDF Knowledge Organization Systems (thesauri, classification systems, etc) that are used in many institutions as a means to describe their assets. SKOS is a standard model, which means that it does not aim at exhaustivity. In this talk, I will discuss some examples where SKOS does not allow to capture important aspects of a specific kind of knowledge organization systems, classification systems. I will especially focus on versioning, and the combination of concepts to build complex expressions. We will see what are the difficulties for representing such situations in RDF, and how existing proposals may be re-used and adapted to fit the cases at hand.
