Description

Title Database Systems Research at CWI, ..now also at VU
Abstract In this talk, I will give a high-level overview of my past and present research activities around data management and query processing, mostly performed at CWI. This encompasses work on hard-core database topics like analytical database architectures, architecture-conscious query processing and run-time query optimization, but also P2P XML databases and, more recently, RDF data management. In passing, I will also describe the two successful spin-off adventures I embarked on in the past years (Data Distilleries and VectorWise). The goal of the talk is thus to explain for a wider audience at VU my background and current interests; which might lead to new scientific cooperations.
