Description

Title Natural Language in Business Process Models
Abstract Many organizations use business process models for documenting and improving their operations as well as for specifying requirements of information systems. However, the extent of modeling initiatives in practice with several hundred models and often hardly trained modelers calls for automated quality assurance and processing techniques. While, for instance, formal properties of control flow can be easily checked by existing tools, there is a notable gap for analyzing the natural language of process models. The challenge in this context is the considerable ambiguity and shortness of process model text labels. Activities such as “Plan Data Transfer” or "Printing Notification" simply do not represent proper sentences. Recognizing this, I will use this talk to introduce a technique for the automated analysis of process model text labels. What is more, I will give an overview of which application scenarios arise from such a technique.
