Title : Knowledge acquisition from LOD and beyond

Abstract The Linked Open Data (LOD) initiative provides a lot of RDF triples, but does it really provide us with knowledge? I will descibe some small experiments in the area of semantic enrichment of LOD geo-data and discuss what knowledge we can get from single LOD sources and from the aggregation and enrichment processes.

Title : Web-Mediated Communication: in Search of Togetherness

Abstract This talk will outline a community-based video sharing and enrichment environment. The goal of this work, which is conducted as part of the FP7 TA2 project, is to study the ability of end-users to navigate through a complex video landscape and to integrate fragments of existing content into a personalized message that can be shared within a small, tightly-knit environment. We will discuss issues of automated and manual meta-data creation, the application of automated and manual authoring support, and the ability of end users to enrich video content while editing.
