Title : Historical Event Extraction

Presenter Marieke van Erp
Abstract During this WAI presentation I will give an update on the status of the Agora project. I will focus in particular on the process of historical event extraction: how we find identify events, participants, locations, and times and how do we link and model these elements. Finally, I will explain how access to cultural heritage collections benefits from inclusion of information about events.

Title : Abstraction of rich cognitive agent models

Presenter Alexei Sharpanskykh
Abstract Employing rich internal agent models of actors in large-scale socio-technical systems often results in scalability issues. The problem addressed in this talk is how to improve computational properties of a complex internal agent model, while preserving its behavioral properties. The problem is addressed for the case of an existing affective-cognitive decision making model instantiated for an emergency scenario.
